“Your mentor is retired Registered Nurse and now
hypnotherapist, Patricia Timmins. You’ll have yourself assessed and then given some “tools” to “get off
autopilot and take charge of your life”.

“hypnotist Patricia Timmins, who is “dedicated to helping people improve their
lives.
During a session, Timmins spends time helping
his client into a relaxed state so together they can tap into the unconscious
mind and “plant” positive suggestions about making life better. He might, for
instance, suggest slowing down, being more mindful during meals and slowly
savoring every bite of food. He often encourages his client to view the process
of weight control as a joyful, lifelong weight maintenance project versus a
painful, quick fix weight loss endeavor. Timmins believes positive suggestions are much more readily accepted by the mind and
therefore have the potential to last a
lifetime.
“There's nothing magical or mystical here.
Hypnosis is simply a tool that helps you focus on your goals and then allows
you to harness the power of your mind to achieve them. You still have to do the
work of getting your body moving, eating less and making better choices but, as Timmins pointed out, "Hypnosis is like an accelerated form of meditation.
When you relax the mind and body, it's more receptive to the suggestion of
making changes, especially when you've already made up your mind to make those
changes."
"Clinical hypnosis can be quite useful for people to get at psychological
barriers of weight management, hypnosis used but it must be conducted with a
qualified clinician. It's important to realize that for clinical reasons isn't
the same hypnosis used to entertain people on stage," said Jeff Brown, a licensed cognitive behavioral psychologist and
one of my co-authors on "The Winner's Brain" when I asked him his opinion
on the topic. "It can be a valuable tool for bettering your life and
working on reducing factors that otherwise block progress in life."
“Smith, a retired clinical
psychologist, is a hypnotherapist who spearheads the program, “Hypnosis for
Golfers,”
The emphasis on the mental
game in golf has grown exponentially in recent years – mental gurus such as Dr.
Bob Rotella are making big bucks these days.
Timmins says that hypnosis can help golfers
focus and overcome the weaknesses of their games. “
“He said he usually talks with
patients for about 20 minutes about their games before using visualization
techniques and hypnotic suggestion during hypnosis. He’ll use a color (usually
red) or physical clue to trigger feelings of control, confidence and focus once
the golfer is back on the course. “
“He indicated most of his clients
have been one-time visits from older golfers, but he said several aspiring
professionals come regularly.”

"After 30 years of being a smoker, I am free from that nasty habit. I was ready to stop, but didn't have the will power to do it alone. I am now enjoying a life of being a non-smoker, and enjoying the true flavors of every meal."
